Wedding Customs in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a country abundant with interesting customs. The people around the wedding can be quite amusing, moving, and completely different from the traditional western service. I had the honor of witnessing a few of them while filming ceremonies in Bulgaria.

One of Bulgaria’s most distinctive bride customs is known as “gelina.” It’s where the man goes and steals his wedding from her relatives house, taking her to his own house. It’s thought that this tradition does defend against evil disposition and bring nice riches for the brides.

The couple will typically attend a lavish reception in a restaurant or other venue following the church or civil ceremony ( or both ). Their mothers will transfer tiny pieces russian wives of the traditional circular food dipped in salt and honey before entering the house. The first item is salty to remind them of the troubles their relationship will provide, and the second is honeyed, which serves as a reminder of the delicacy that will also be present in their life together.

The “kumove,” two people who are the couple’s most essential friends and instructors, are another crucial component of the marriage, acting as their relatives and mentors. They will guide them in their upcoming lives up and guide them through the challenging days.

Once the greeting begins it’s moment for a lot of dance. The dance begins with the best guy and ideal lady. The bride and groom dance a few times, which is customary, to get their bread, which is very nice.
